Turning Actions into outcomes

Managing your actions so that they make a difference to your teams and the wider organisation

Updated this week

Creating actions is the easy part - the real value comes from making sure actions are owned, progressed, and completed. Action Planning gives you a simple structure that keeps momentum going and makes progress visible.

Actions sit in a three-stage flow:

  • Not started

  • In progress

  • Completed

This makes it instantly clear what’s moving, what’s stuck, and what’s been delivered.

For those with Prism enabled

Review my action (Prism quality check)

Writing actions is easy — writing good actions that drive change is harder. That’s why Prism includes Review my action, which assesses the strength of an action and helps users improve it. Prism reviews your wording, gives it a strength score, and explains what could be improved — helping turn vague intentions into clearer, more effective actions that are easier to deliver and communicate.

Improve my action (make it clearer and more actionable)

If you want to sharpen an action quickly, you can also use Improve my action. This allows Prism to rewrite the action in a clearer, more structured way — improving quality, clarity and focus while keeping the original intent. Users stay in control throughout, and can choose whether to apply Prism’s rewritten version.

Keep momentum with real progress tracking

As actions move into In progress, you can update completion using a progress slider. This helps teams stay honest about delivery, track momentum over time, and avoid actions drifting without updates.

Assign ownership (so actions don’t stall)

Every action can be assigned to an Owner, creating accountability and ensuring actions don’t get lost after the initial excitement of results.

Built for collaboration, not admin

Actions support comments, so teams can add updates, share context, and keep conversations connected to the work — not scattered across emails or meetings.

Full visibility through an activity trail

Each action includes an Activity view that shows key changes over time (such as status updates and progress changes), giving teams transparency and a clear record of what’s happened.

Find the right actions fast (views, filters, search and export)

As action plans grow, it becomes just as important to stay organised as it is to take action. Action Planning makes it easy to focus on the right actions at the right time.

Switch between Kanban and Grid view

You can view your actions in the format that suits the moment:

  • Kanban view for progress and workflow

  • Grid view for scanning, reviewing and reporting

Filter down to what matters

Use filters to quickly focus on the actions you need, including:

  • Owner

  • Dates

  • Themes

  • Questions

  • Prism actions (actions generated by Prism)

  • Tags (generated in the background by Prism)

This makes it easy to answer questions like:

  • What actions are overdue?

  • Which themes are we prioritising?

  • What’s sitting in progress without movement?

  • What actions were generated by Prism vs created manually?

Search and export

You can also:

  • Search for actions quickly

  • Export your action plan data for reporting, sharing, or governance

Keep momentum with reminders (nudges)

Even great action plans can lose momentum without follow-through. That’s why the platform includes automated nudges that help keep improvement moving after the survey closes.

Depending on your setup, nudges include:

  • a results invitation

  • an invitation to take action (with reminders)

  • an action progress reminder if an action hasn’t been updated for a month

  • an action due reminder

  • an action completed email

These nudges help turn Action Planning into an ongoing rhythm - not a one-off task.

One action plan view across dashboards

Action Planning isn’t limited to a single dashboard or survey.

You can view actions across all dashboards in one place, giving you a joined-up view of improvement activity — even when actions come from different surveys, audiences or time periods.

This is especially valuable for organisations running multiple surveys or wanting to track delivery across teams and departments without switching between dashboards.

Why linking actions to questions matters

Actions aren’t created in isolation — they’re tied back to the questions and drivers that prompted them.

That means over time you can build a clearer picture of:

  • what actions were taken

  • what themes were prioritised

  • and what changes may have contributed to improved results

In other words, Action Planning doesn’t just help you “do actions” - it helps you understand what’s working and where effort is making a difference.

Summary: what Action Planning + Prism delivers

Action Planning helps you turn survey feedback into visible progress - not just insight.

If you also have Prism Suggest, managers don’t have to guess where to start: they get recommended actions based on their results, with clear rationale and the option to generate more. From there, actions can be owned, tracked and completed through a simple workflow, supported by filters, reporting tools and reminders that keep momentum alive.

In short: sharper listening and smarter action, delivered in a way that’s practical for teams and scalable for organisations.
