How to add or edit comment questions

Updated over a week ago

Comment questions are survey items which allow respondents to enter free text responses and express their views. You can choose to add comment questions from People Insight’s client library or create your own.

Add a comment question from the client library

People Insight’s client library includes comment questions you can add to your survey.

First, select the reporting section you’d like the question to sit under.

Then select ‘Add Survey Item’, and choose ‘Comment Question’ from the list. Select a question from People Insight’s client library.

Then click ‘Add and close’, and ‘Save changes’.

Creating new comment questions

If you want to create a bespoke comment question, you’ll first need to add that to your organisation's library.

Head to ‘Manage questions’ in the left-hand menu. Choose ‘Comment questions’ and when the page loads choose ‘Create new’ from the options. Now add your question text.

At the end of the page, choose ‘comment question’ as the question category. This helps organise your survey questions so you can easily add them to your survey.

Once you are happy, click ‘Save changes’.

Add a bespoke comment question to your survey

Once you have set up your bespoke comment question, you need to add it to your survey.

To do this, head back to the ‘Structure’ section of your survey. Select the reporting section you’d like the question to sit under.

Click ‘Add survey item’, and select ‘Comment question’ as the question type. Select ‘Your organisation’s questions’ from the drop-down menu and you will see the question/s you have set up.

Select the question you wish to add to your survey and click ‘Add and close’.

Editing comment questions

To edit your comment question, or choose whether or not it should be mandatory, select the question from your survey structure.

Make any changes on the right-hand side of the screen, and click ‘Save changes’.
