You can integrate People Insight's Directory Management with your HRIS to automatically sync data between the two platforms. This guides provides all the information you need to set up a native HRIS, Merge API, or SFTP integration.

Options for integration

You have two options for updating your data in People Insight: manually importing data via an XLSX or CSV file, or synchronising your data through a native HRIS, Merge API, or SFTP integration.

We strongly recommend using the native HRIS, Merge API, or SFTP integration. These methods allow you to:

  • Simplify the process of conducting regular surveys, such as pulse and lifecycle surveys.

  • Improve the accuracy of your insights with real-time, up-to-date data.

  • Efficiently distribute insights to the appropriate stakeholders using hierarchy and reporting line information.

  • Share the responsibility of gathering and interpreting feedback across your team.

Furthermore, HRIS, Merge API, and SFTP integrations offer great flexibility, enabling you to schedule automatic daily syncs or perform manual syncs at your convenience.

1. Native integration

We offer native integrations with BambooHR, with more to follow. Setting up an HRIS integration may require assistance from your HRIS Admin / Consultant or IT Team. We've provided specific guides below for each supported HRIS:

2. Integration via Merge API

Automate your HRIS employee data import using the Merge API, a trusted sub-processor that has partnered with People Insight to provide expanded integration options for our customers. The setup process is simple and can be completed quickly without the need for technical support.

3. SFTP Integration

If your HRIS isn't listed under the native integrations, you can still integrate with People Insight using Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP).

SFTP enables secure data transfer from one system (such as your HRIS) to another (like People Insight). If your HRIS has a built-in SFTP client, you can use SFTP to automatically sync your data, ensuring that People Insight remains up-to-date. Alternatively, it is possible to programmatically develop this process. We can support you in this approach too.

People Insight maintains a receiving SFTP server that your HRIS provider or SFTP client can connect to, allowing encrypted files to be securely sent and processed by us.

Employee data files transferred via SFTP will be processed using our import process and the end result will be the same as an API integration.

Setting up an SFTP integration may require assistance from your IT team or your HRIS provider. We can provide detailed technical instructions and development for them if needed.
