What's different?
Cleaner aesthetic: The interface is simpler, with less clutter, making it easier to navigate and understand.
Question creation: You can now create questions directly within the survey builder, streamlining the process.
Simplified reordering: Reordering sections and questions has been enhanced with a more intuitive drag-and-drop feature.
Accessible question attributes: With a double-click, you can view and edit question attributes, all without leaving the screen, including:
Adding display logic
Marking a question as a focal point
Assigning it to key drivers
Managing translations for questions and responses
Adjusting response scales
Making a question mandatory
Question identification: You can easily see the type of question by the icon next to it. Mandatory questions are marked with a red asterisk, and focal point questions are highlighted with a blue outline.
Preview functionality: You can preview your survey at any time to ensure the formatting is correct before publishing
Full-screen view: The full-screen mode is still available
and we recommend using it for focused survey building, as everything you need is now on one screen.
Accessing the new Survey Builder
Here's how you can access it and start using its features alongside the existing survey structure tool. On the Survey Structure tab, below the main heading, you’ll notice a blue bar with the option:
Selecting this option will switch you to the new survey builder interface, providing you with more flexibility and new features for building surveys.
Don't worry - you can always get back to the existing Survey Builder anytime by clicking on the option in the blue bar to return back.
What will you see?
When you click on the preview what you see will depend on the current state of your survey. If you're working from a survey template, editing an existing survey, or modifying a copied one, the survey sections will appear on the left-hand side.
On the right, you'll see the individual questions within the selected Survey Reporting Section, allowing you to manage both sections and questions seamlessly.
If you're creating a survey from scratch and haven't added any questions yet, you'll see a blank survey with only the introduction text, which you're likely familiar with.
Then when you click on Continue you will be invited to add your first Reporting Section or sections. Once you have added and closed your selection you will see:
Adding and managing sections or questions
To add a new section or question, simply click the + Add button in the top-right corner. You will be presented with a range of options, from adding a reporting section to manually entering QIDs.
Moving questions
After creating a new question, if you find it’s in the wrong order, it's easy to move it. Click on the question, then drag it to the desired position. To do this:
Hover over the question, then move to the left-hand side to see three dots.
These dots will turn into a move icon, that you can drag to rearrange the question within the section.
Managing sections
If you need to move an entire section, you can drag it in the same way, and all questions within that section will move along with it.
Question types
On the right-hand side of the questions, you'll be able to see the type of question and the associated icons illustrating the question type:
If you want to view or edit a question, simply double-click on it, and it will open in a modal view for easy editing.
In the modal view, you can:
Manage the question text translations
Set the question as mandatory or optional
Adjust the answer options or Likert scales
View and update the question category
Move the question to a different section
Configure the display logic for the question
View and modify its properties
See if a section is missing a translation easily
Deleting Questions or Sections
To delete a question, you need to first click on it, then double-click to open the question, and select delete. There is no "delete all" function for multiple questions at once to reduce the risk of accidental deletion. However, you can delete an entire section, and all the questions within it will be removed as well.
